Jan Karon was born in Lenoir, North Carolina, in 1937 . She had a forty-year career in advertising, with assignments in New York and San Francisco, numerous awards, and an executive position with a national agency.
Several years ago, Karon left advertising to move to the mountain village of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and write books.
